Sydney’s A-list celebrities reveal what fashion trends they will wear this spring, summer

AS David Jones sent the latest designer looks for spring and summer down the catwalk last night, Sydney’s A-list have revealed what will be hot in their closet once the weather warms up.

Top Aussie models Bridget Malcolm, Shanina Shaik, Jessica Gomes and Jesinta Franklin led a catwalk parade featuring a flurry of ’80s silhouettes, bright tropical prints, Victoriana inspired-lace, high necklines, soft pinks and bold reds.

And while the trends were all warmly received, some of Sydney’s most famous faces talked about the new styles they were keen to champion — although some admitted they might not embrace all the key looks of the new season.

Today host Sylvia Jeffreys said she would not dare don some of the sky-high heels she saw walking the runway — and usually ditches the heels in summer.

“As a faithful ugg boot wearer, I’m embracing the return of the flats,” Jeffreys told The Daily Telegraph. “I’m tall. I have 11.5-size feet so I love a flat.”

Shoe designer Terry Biviano hopes to experiment with more colour this summer and has her eye on some of the one-piece swimsuits paraded last night.

“I’m definitely done with black but it’s always in fashion, which is hard,” she said.

“I like a bikini but one-pieces are in. I should be wearing a one-piece after having children, I’m glad they’re having a moment.”

Actor Teresa Palmer is also hoping to branch out into some of the bold fruity patterns she saw last night.

“My go-to is black or white so this summer I’m going to put in some colour, some peaches and lemon,” she said. “I need to be more comfortable in colour.”

While the men on the catwalk showcased bold tropical prints and bright colours, Bachelor Matty J said he’s prefers to stick with what he knows.

“I’m very traditional and even in terms of colour schemes,” he said. “I’m going to wear blacks, white greys and that’s it.”

Former Sydney Swans player Adam Goodes said a recent European summer holiday had made him rethink wearing budgie smugglers.

“I definitely won’t be rocking speedos in summer,” he said. “I wear short boardies, something comfortable.”

The parade which showcased 230 looks from 40 brands was the last to be held in the iconic On Seven room on level seven of the brand’s flagship Elizabeth St store, before the store undergoes a $200 million refurbishment.

More than 330 A-list fashion and celebrity guests attended the launch.

A-list celeb wedding planner Lisa Vorce dishes on trends, scents for weddings, and how to have big impact on a budget

Lisa Vorce has seen it all when it comes to weddings!

The celebrity wedding planner, who counts Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and Lindsay Price and Curtis Stone as clients, has dreamed up perfect days for tons of brides and grooms and she sat down to dish about the hottest trends this season.

To start, Vorce who just teamed up with Ralph Lauren Fragrances, said that paying attention to details like the scents of your wedding is important. It can help shape the entire day and it really will reflect the type of bride you are and the event you want to put on. It can also help create a theme!

Vorce also shared her thoughts on the trends she’s seeing this summer and how to put your own spin on them.

Check out what Vorce had to say below!

When you’re choosing a scent to wear for your wedding, do you have any guidelines or rules?

Selecting a fragrance is a very personal decision – first and foremost a bride should think about her first reaction to smelling the fragrance – Do you love the scent? Does it evoke pleasant memories or feelings? Another way to think about fragrance is based on the type of bride you are…

JETSET BRIDE: This bride is interested in travel, and her wedding is a destination. The best way to cater to her is to give her something that travels. As a jetsetter, she might be drawn to citrus fragrances that conjure up the sunny scents of the Riviera. o Two favorites are Ralph Lauren’s LIME and ORANGE FLOWER.

ROMANTIC BRIDE: More traditional in her wedding planning, this bride has envisioned her wedding since she was young. Her wedding will be classic perfection. Romantic brides favor something classic like Ralph Lauren WHITE TEA and ROSE fragrances, which hearkens back to a romantic English elegance.

URBAN/CITY BRIDE: Chic and fashion forward, this bride isn’t afraid of playing with color and trends to create a bridal event that is sure to be remembered. City brides tend to enjoy fragrances with glamorous and robust notes. Two favorites are Ralph Lauren’s VETIVER and MAGNOLIA.

Does it matter at all if you have super fragrant flowers or bouquets — should you then steer clear of scents?

It can matter. For example, you wouldn’t want a strong floral scent overpowering the dinner reception – guests should be able to both taste and smell their entrée! If in doubt, go with a combination of fragrant/ non-fragrant flowers.

Should I choose a scent that my groom should wear too that is complementary to my own? Or can we go our own way?

It’s totally fine to go your own way. It’s most important that you both feel like the very best versions of yourselves. But, if I were to choose, I love Polo Blue EDP for a classic groom!

What are your favorite wedding trends this season for decor? So far we’ve seen lots of lush florals and gold candlesticks!

I like to quote Shakespeare, “To thine own self be true.” Your wedding day, above all other days, is the day to be true to yourself. It’s your day – own it! I think both lush florals and gold candlesticks could be elements of a fabulous design, but don’t succumb to these trends unless it reflects what you like. Recently I have had brides use lush florals, combined with pewter and silver candlesticks and vases. I also think neutral textiles (think bamboo, wicker, hemp) contrasted with greenery make great accents for summer weddings.

If you’re on a bit of a budget, what’s the best way to make a statement with some of the above trends, but on a more simplified scale. Do you have any tips for big impact low budget?

Two insider secrets: Spray paint and the power of multiples! Spray paint is amazing! Enlist your friends to treasure-hunt charity shops or craft stores for lots of inexpensive gold candlesticks. They don’t have to be the same shape! Ask friends to also look for vessels and vases (of any color). Gather the eclectic collection of vessels, find a well-ventilated space, and then spray paint away with a matte (not shiny) gold! Place the candlesticks in groups of three (like a triangle) along the table and line the newly gold vessels along the center of the tables. Add fresh flowers and candles, and voila!

What are the dreamiest destinations to get married at right now? Italy is one of our go to’s – it really is a romantic, beautiful place. I love, however, when I have clients who want to do something very remote, or unique. One of my favorite wedding locations was Vietnam. It was just a “wedding for two” and the couple’s “getaway vehicle” was a beautiful little wooden boat, decorated with delicate lace and paper lanterns. I would also like to do destinations I’ve never done – Uruguay, Guatemala, Japan, Iceland and Ireland are on my list. Anyone?
