Summer 2017 Celebrity Beauty Trends

We’ve seen a lot of crazy beauty fads come and go lately, but there are a few wearable ones that have become hallmarks of summer 2017.

Celebrities like Katy Perry, Kristen Stewart and Emily Ratajkowski have helped propel platinum pixie cuts, orange eyeshadow, here-today-gone-tomorrow bangs and more into the season’s top beauty trends.

The popularity of the looks are showing no signs of slowing down, so now is the perfect time to give one (or more) of them a try.

Below, get inspired by the stars creating the hair and make-up buzz and shop products to help you copy their looks.

SUMMER 2017 BEAUTY TREND: FAUX BANGS

Thanks to hairstylists like Jennifer Yepez and Jen Atkin, clip-in bangs were the must-have accessory during the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The hair pros used them to transform the manes of stars like Lily Collins, Emily Ratajkowski and Salma Hayek.

In June, Jen accented Bella Hadid’s blunt bob with yet another set of faux fringe for the CFDA Awards, and Jennifer brought back Emily’s thick bangs during Paris Couture Week in July.

Since then, the clip-in style has also been spotted on Cara Delevingne and, most recently, Vanessa Hudgens.

The only A-lister to make a permanent bang change this summer has been Sofia Vergara, who cut hers in July and hasn’t been seen without them since.

If you’re not ready to try fringe for real, try Hairdo Effortless Clip-In Bangs ($26.50, qvc.com) or True by Ellen Wille Clip-In Bangs ($384, wigs.com). You may want to take them to your stylist to have them cut or dyed to match your natural hair.

SUMMER 2017 BEAUTY TREND: PLATINUM PIXIE CUTS

If there has been one defining haircut of the summer, it’s been the platinum pixie.

Ever since Cara Delevingne shaved her head for her role in the film Life in a Year back in April, multiple stars have followed suit, opting for the slightly longer, grown-out version Cara has been sporting lately.

During the Chanel Couture Show in Paris in July, for example, attendees Cara and Katy Perry were practically indistinguishable from each other.

Kristen Stewart and Zoe Kravitz have also taken the platinum plunge in recent months.

If you’ve been considering joining the club, celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak, who works with Cara says, ‘DO IT!’

Once you’ve gone the bleached route, protect your color – and your hair – with products like It’s a 10 Haircare’s Five Minute Hair Repair For Blondes mask ($21, itsa10haircare.com) and John Frieda Sheer Blonde Brilliantly Brighter Shampoo and Conditioner ($10 each, ulta.com).

SUMMER 2017 BEAUTY TREND: ORANGE EYESHADOW

Orange eyeshadow has been trending for a while, but it has recently reached peek color status due to stars like Jourdan Dunn, Selena Gomez, Chloe Grace Moretz, Zendaya and more.

So what’s with the newfound crush on orange? Lucy Hale’s make-up artist Kelsey Deenihan explained it to Femail this way: ‘We have the smoky eyes, and a lot of times you see them done in jewel tones or the bronze smoky eye, but the new colors, like orange, are a fun way to give a new take on a classic eye.’

The proliferation of palettes built around the shade certainly don’t hurt, either. The Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette ($54, sephora.com) and MAC Girls Palette in Mischief Minx ($39.50, nordstrom.com) make it easy to play around with the bold hue.

SUMMER 2017 BEAUTY TREND: SLEEK STRANDS

Like seemingly everything ’90s, pin-straight hairstyles are back.

One need not look further than the Kardashian-Jenner clan for proof. Kim Kardashian West, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian have all shown an affinity for sleek strands lately.

Kendall regularly wears her long bob parted down the middle and stick straight, oftentimes the work of stylist Jen Atkin.

All in the family: Khloe's sisters Kendall Jenner (pictured), 21, and Kim Kardashian West, 36, have also stepped out with stick-straight, high-gloss manes in the past few months

Jen also provided the impetus for Khloe to take the trend for a spin when she cut the Kardashian sister’s hair into a chin-length bob on Monday. Shortly after, fellow hair pro Justine Marjan gave the cut a ‘super straight and ’90s’ style.

And less than week ago, Chris Appleton gave Kim a waist-length, high-gloss style.

To copy the look, bust out your flat iron (we like Amika The Antidote Silk Wrap Styler, $150, sephora.com). Just don’t forget a heat protectant (try Jen’s Ouai Smooth Spray, $26, theouai.com) and shine serum (pick up Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum, $5, target.com).

Retro beauty trends are making a comeback

Some of the major beauty trends in the 90’s are making a huge comeback in the spotlight. More celebrities are going into that funky and grungy look that was so popular some decades ago. Among these trends are the shimmering lids and lips, and exciting hair do’s.

To prove this theory, Brit Plus Co reported that Lisa Frank pajamas are in fact already at Target, while the Clearly Canadian is once again a favorite. And yes, Hulu will begin to air some of our favorite sitcoms from the past!

Hello glassy lips, goodbye matte!

In the 90’s, a shiny #Lip Gloss was a major thing. High-shine formulas were so sought after until the matte lipstick made its way into the mainstream.

However, matte finish is slowly dying. In the premiere of “47 Meters Down,” Mandy Moore was seen in with a highly reflective lip gloss. Even Selena Gomez was seen sporting a shimmering lacquer lip gloss in her music video for “Fetish.”

Ironically, the vampy lips are also making a huge comeback. These dark hues seem to reflect the different moods the user wants to project. One celebrity who dared to bring back this trend is Taylor Swift when she marched on the red carpet on the Met Gala. During the Paris Fashion Week, Karlie Kloss was also seen wearing a fierce brown lipstick which gave her a time travel look from the 90’s.

We are back to hair clips and hair wraps

The 90’s hair clips are so in, thanks to Bella Hadid. In her Instagram, she was seen wearing those shiny clips to clasp those bangs.

In fact, her get up of baby tees and ripped, lightly washed jeans made her she just stepped out from Delia’s catalogue.

Ladies can make a statement with the resurrected hair wraps. On the premiere of “Kidnap,” Halle Berry was seen in stylish hair wrap with strings, and little gold hoops. As this trend slowly makes its way today, one can be as creative as she wants to be using modern accessories, monochromatic embellishment or simply pop it with colors to match.

One hair trend that is making a huge comeback is crimped hair. It once lost its appeal when the tousled, wind-blown, beachy manes became popular. Several celebrities were seen wearing a uniform hair bends like Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bella Thorne, and Gigi Hadid.

Worth mentioning as well that is making its way from the past is frosty and silver makeup for the eyes. The shimmering silver eyeshadow was brought back to life by “Made Men” Jessica Pare, and “The Bachelorette” Rachel Lindsay.

7 Shoes Inspired by Celebrity Beauty Trends [PHOTOS]

These days, you can hardly open your Instagram without scrolling past a post showing off someone’s ultra-glam beauty look.

With Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian West getting into the beauty game recently, and the rise to prominence of celebrity makeup artists and beauty bloggers, it’s easy to incorporate new beauty ideas into your routine. Turns out you can also incorporate some top beauty trends into your footwear — and they might just have the same prettying effect.

Love Kardashian West’s signature nude lips? Try a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s classic BB pump in a nude suede. The star also loves a “no-makeup” makeup look, which gives the effect that one isn’t wearing any makeup at all. Blahnik’s clear ankle-strap sandals give your feet the same look.

Lily Collins often opts for a bold lip on the red carpet, so we found a pair of Balenciaga fitted boots that matched her wine-colored lips. You could even match your lips to your outfit, like Gigi Hadid did recently in all-blue.

Kylie Jenner is a fan of pink eyeshadow hues, ranging from peach to bright pink — Aquazzura’s blush pink platform sandals are the perfect way to emulate the pink eyeshadow trend.

Celebrity Skincare Guru Nurse Jamie on Why At-Home Beauty Tools Are the Future

Over the past twenty years, Jamie Sherrill has become one of the most in-demand skincare gurus in Hollywood. But you may not know her name–she goes by the moniker Nurse Jamie, which is also the name of her line of cult-favorite beauty tools and potions, as well as her Los Angeles spa, Nurse Jamie Beauty Park. Before you ask–yes, Sherrill is, in fact, a nurse, but she’s also a certified aesthetician, which means she can offer her devoted clients, who range from Jessica Alba to Ruby Rose, a wide-range of services that promise flawless skincare through some very unique methods that can be done both at home and in the office. “At Nurse Jamie Beauty Park, our vision is simple – to offer not only the best non-surgical beauty solutions available on the market, but also a customized combination of the most cutting-edge technical advances in anti-aging, skincare and beauty today,” Sherrill explains. “High-tech tools, devices and home-based care are a big part of my regiment and I make everyone participate.”

Here, Sherrill offers insight into the most in-demand celebrity beauty desires, and offers tips on improving your complexion at home.

You have a wide range of high profile clients, all unique with their own concerns and skincare regimens. What are the most common concerns you hear?
Celebrities come in all shapes, sizes and ages, so everyone is going to have a different treatment plan. This year body sculpting is big — from banning the bra strap fat to firming the tush, while laser hair removal, Botox, fillers and glowing skin are year round trends. Those requests never go out of style.

What types of treatments are most requested before a red carpet appearance?
Some are genetically blessed and don’t really do more than an oxygen facial and an “electric facial” to be fully red carpet ready.  But that said–we start to lose collagen production and skin elasticity starting at 25, so we will typically use a range of key technologies in lasers for skin texture and complexion. The ACELLerator at home beauty tool is ideal to help serums and product be absorbed for a lifting and tightening effect, and has a great anti-inflammatory property.  You can use every day but specifically just before an event for a more open eye look or more defined cheek even if you just flew in! This works well for the face and body, so it helps with stretch marks and skin smoothing for waistline, hips and thighs. Trust me this is a celeb secret. If you don’t believe me, do one side of your face for just one minute then look into a mirror.

But don’t forget red carpet prep needs to happen every day, too. Eat well, sleep well on the right pillow, take off make-up at night and use good quality products with the best raw ingredients. Home care matters as much as in office does.

When your clients are on location for months at a time, what tips do you give them?
Think “maintain, not reclaim” and always try to be preventative. Think of the rules of eating that are good for your body; most apply to your skin as well. It is the largest organ of the body so treat it like one. Be consistent with taking off makeup nightly and never with a washcloth. Use a hypoallergenic and antibacterial surface to cleanse your skin. Exfoliate regularly, manually or with a tool, but gently and consistently.

Invest in a beauty tool to help increase absorption of products like my Instant Uplift or ACELLerator Ultra. Just like the machines we have in office, they increase absorption and efficacy of your products while helping to improve and maintain tone. Also, wear sunscreen. It seems basic, but all helps. At-home devices are the future of beauty — you can have the best raw ingredients in the world, but as skin is the largest organ of the body its main function is to protect. The number one cause of aging is UV damage, the number two is smoking, and the third is sleeping on a traditional pillow. Use satin only and a shape that will help you train to sleep on your back, so that the most delicate areas around the eyes, cheeks and neck do not form permanent wrinkles.

It’s the middle of summer. Other than sunscreen and hats, what other advice do you have for fending off skin discoloration?
Use good quality products with the best raw ingredients. Old school skincare was to use aggressive products that caused chemical cell turnover reaction, which can make you more susceptible to sun damage. (Retin-A is so 1980s!) My opinion is to use retinol ingredients sparingly. Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) – causes cell turnover and has significant effects on delaying the aging process – including preserving skin’s cells and skin’s overall vitality and radiance, without leaving you red, flaky, and shiny.  I hate the shiny face – it kills me overtime I see I can spot the “glare” from across the room.

The Nurse Jamie tools that you incorporate into your treatments seem to have a loyal following of their own. Like the Beauty Stamp, for example. How does that work?
The Beauty Stamp may very well be the best investment anyone can make. A small pad features a cross section of micro needles in a grid that helps with micro exfoliation, opens channels for product delivery and efficacy and aids in the body process of collagen and elastin production. It is my triple threat. For day of events you need to focus on complexion and texture in a non-invasive way or only protocols with no downtime and no risk. Don’t try something new with a high risk to low reward for the day of an event. Nothing worse than redness or inflammation when you are dressed to impress and need your face to match!

How about the Accelerator Ultra?
The ACELLerator at home beauty tool is ideal for a daily regiment to help serums and product be absorb lifting and tightening effect and has a great anti-inflammatory property. You can use every day but specifically just before an event for a more open eye look or more defined cheek–even if you just flew in! This works well for face and body so it helps with stretch marks and skin smoothing for waistline, hips and thighs, too. Trust me, this is a celeb secret — don’t believe me? Do one side of your face for just one minute then look into a mirror.

What is your top selling tool?
UpLift Massaging Beauty Roller. It has a huge celebrity following.

Are there any foods or vitamins that you recommend for vibrant skin?
A B12 Energy Shot. Close to a decade ago I injected Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie with it right in their bums on national television for The Simple Life, and in turn injectable vitamins became one of our most popular treatments…

What are the biggest skincare mistakes people make?
Side sleeping and over exfoliating. We need to treat our skin like a silk fabric not a piece of leather.  When you over exfoliate (physically and chemically) and with too much frequency it destroys the protective barrier that your skin has – once it is removed or compromised you are you exposing your skin to environmental toxins, sun damage pre-mature aging, acne, etc. It’s very common.

What is your personal daily skin routine?
Taking off my make-up–I can’t go to bed with my make-up on. Period. The UpLift Facial Massaging Beauty Roller, EGF Stem Cell Complex–I don’t go anywhere without this cream. I would bathe in it if I could–and I use my ACELLerator for 10 minutes each night on both sides of my face while I sit in bed. I practice what I preach. That way I can give them my best face – and tell them it is what I do and mean it! I’ve dedicated my life to skin and created my line for products that I felt that were missing in the marketplace. As a busy working mom of three toddlers –  I’m proud to say that I’m my own client.

Celebrity Beauty Trends From Comic-Con 2017

Comic-Con may be more synonymous with superheroes and cartoon characters than high-fashion hair and make-up trends, but that doesn’t mean beauty inspiration didn’t abound at this weekend’s festival in San Diego, California.

The looks weren’t over-the-top like many you see at fancy red-carpet events, but the ones spotted on stars like Cate Blanchett and Thandie Newton were imminently wearable, making them all the more enticing to try.

Below, FEMAIL details the five biggest beauty looks to come out of the Con this year.

COOL-GIRL BOBS

Comic-Con may seem like an unlikely place to pull images to take to your hairstylist before your next cut, but stars like Cate Blanchett, 48, Willa Holland, 26, and Erin Richards, 31, are here to prove you otherwise.

All three women showed up with chin-grazing, bob haircuts that were full of texture, layers and a distinct cool factor.

Cate, who was at the convention to promote her superhero blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, styled her bob with a side part that let her long bangs sweep the side of her forehead and showed off her multidimensional highlights.

Arrow’s Willa wore her version of the bob in piece-y waves for Entertainment Weekly’s Annual Comic-Con Party at the Float at Hard Rock Hotel. The model-off-duty style worked particularly well with her sexy, silver silk pantsuit. For similar texture, reach for Bumble and Bumble Bb. Don’t Blow It Thick (H)air Styler or Shu Uemura Texture Wave Dry Texturizing Spray.

For a style with thicker fringe, look to Gotham actress Erin, who paired her platinum blunt bob with full bangs.

ORANGE LIPSTICK

Was there a memo that was circulated before comic convention that told the stars to wear orange-red lipstick?

A cursory glance at actresses like Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot, 32, Westworld’s Thandie Newton, 44, and Black Lightning’s Nafessa Williams, 27, certainly makes it seems like a possibility.

Of course, the hue has been trending all summer and looks good on a wide range of skin tones, so a coincidence more likely.

To get in on the trend, try L’Oreal Colour Riche Matte Lipcolour in Matte-ly in Love or Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Nearly Neon in Orange.

NATURAL HAIR

Obviously natural hair isn’t a trend, but we were pleasantly surprised by how many celebrities chose to show off their natural texture throughout the weekend.

Everyone from Game of Thrones’ Nathalie Emmanuel, 28, to Riverdale’s Hayley Law, 24, and Asha Bromfield, 22, showed off full heads of enviable kinky and coily curls.

If you haven’t found the right products for your hair type, look into a new line from Lupita Nyong’o’s stylist Vernon Francois, who says his ‘personal goal is to empower a generation of people with textured and curly hair to confidently embrace their genetic gifts.’

We especially like the Whipped Deep Conditioner and  Curl Moisture Spray.

BRAIDS

Comic-Con 2017 proved yet again hat braids can work for any occasion and on people of any age.

Lydia Hearst, 32, who made an appearance at the EW party with husband Chris Hardwick, pulled just the top of her long blonde hair back into a reverse French braid that stopped at the crown of her head before cascading into waves that blended right in with the rest of her strands. The look was every bit My Little Pony chic – and would work no matter how dressy or casual an event was.

At only 13, Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown has already become one to watch in the fashion and beauty space. We love the two tight French braids she wore on either side of her head for a press conference at the festival. In her short hair, the plaits looked youthful but still sophisticated.

In another example of how braids can work on short hair, 36-year-old Eliza Coupe went with a few cornrows on one side of her head and left the the rest of her blonde hair loose during a press line for The Flash.

BARRETTES

Put a pin in it: Keep your hair off your face with a flat bobby pin like Aidy Bryant (pictured), 30, and Gabrielle Anwar, 47

Hair accessories are nothing new on red carpets these days, but the single, colorful bobby pin worn by both Aidy Bryant and Gabrielle Anwar is the stylish warm-weather hair savior we didn’t know we were missing.

The 30-year-old Saturday Night Live actress clipped one side of her hair back with a blue pin that perfectly matched the periwinkle in her dress during a panel discussion for Amazon’s Danger & Eggs yesterday.

The day before, Once Upon a Time actress Gabrielle, 47, wore a similar pin in blue and white to keep the hair off her face.

Shop flat pins like the La-ta-da Enameled Bobby Slides or Kitsch Straight Bobby Pins for an easy, affordable summer style.

Celebrity Beauty Fails Trends | Lookbook

There’s a reason why the stars always looks so amazing: besides being genetically blessed, they’re also constantly surrounded by expert glam squads of hair stylists and makeup artists. We always keep that in mind whenever we’re trying to replicate Lauren Conrad’s perfect cat-eye liner or Victoria’s Secret Angel waves

So it’s somewhat comforting to know that celebrities are indeed human, and they have makeup fails just like us. Keep scrolling for eight times when the stars’ beauty trends went awry.

1.  Self-Tanner Mishaps

Even celebs suffer from spray tan malfunctions. See Christina Aguilera’s faux tan drip marks?

Kim Kardashian must’ve skipped those self tanner mitts, because she ended up with tanning lotion all over her hand.

2.  When You Can’t Stop Highlighting and Contouring

Applying highlighter, luminizers, and bronzers can be little tougher than just swiping on some lip gloss. Example: Lil’ Kim’s all-over highlighter gives her an other-worldly glow.

Lindsay Lohan used a very heavy hand with her bronzer contouring, and apparently skipped the beauty blender.

3.  Eyeshadow Goes Overboard

The over-the-top eyeshadow looks seen in fashion magazine editorials don’t necessarily translate to real life. But Miley Cyrus went for it here, overdosing on sparkly glitter shadow.

Tyra Banks piled on the black eyeshadow up to her brow for her smokey eye.

4.  The #1 Lipstick Nightmare

Ugh, we’ve been there. There’s nothing like lipstick on your teeth that makes you instantly go from polished to disheveled. Even Emma Watson isn’t immune.

Oh no, Paris Hilton’s bold red lip ended up on her teeth too. Note to self: always remember the index finger lipstick trick.

These celebs may have gotten it wrong, but The Lookbook Trend Testers are helping to make sure you get it right. Watch the trailer for the new digital series up above, and look out for new episodes coming Tuesdays this summer.

One Indian Designer Re Establishes The White Kurta Pyjama For Summer | Style & Beauty

The art of wearing a white kurta-pyjama as a regular outfit is long lost and sadly, is now only confined to the few hours of Gabbar’s favourite day of the year. As kids, we saw our grandfathers put on a crisp white set every day but the busy lives and ‘trousers’ carried us all away.

For our social experiment, 31 Days Of Summer, we got together with 31 young and dynamic ladies to present before you, their go-to summer looks. While some pulled off celebrity trends, others managed to talk about the most happening trends of the season. From recreating looks inspired by Kim Kardashian and Sonam Kapoor, to trying the most ridiculous, paper-bag waist, we did it all.

One of our ladies was the co-founder of Huemn and a connoisseur of design, prose and really poor jokes (as mentioned in her Instagram bio), Shyma Shetty. While other girls chose to wear summer in forms of floral dresses and big shirts, Shyma showed up in a dazzling but very humble set of white kurta-pyjamas. On asking why she made the choice, she said, “I work in an environment where I’m on my feet a lot and I’ve always veered towards comfy, oversized separates in my style, especially on long days in the factory. Worldwide, the dress/tunic over pants has seen a big comeback in our times because of ease of wear and movement and the humble desi kurta-pyjama hasn’t got its due.”

She also added, “100% unlined cotton is perfect to beat the Delhi heat, the pants are beyond comfy and the stark white canvas lets me explore my accessory game.” We totally agree! Lighter colours in summer are definitely a big relief as they absorb lesser heat than darker hues.

We wouldn’t be lying if we say that her look had us floored. Even with the simple set she nailed quite a few summer trends in one go, like, light colours, white on white, oversized silhouettes etc. Even functionality wise, the outfit was so comfortable and easy that it makes for the perfect choice on a busy summer day. No hassle, no fuss! Thanks, Shyma for making a great case in favour of the white kurta-pyjama. We can’t wait to try it for ourselves.

We Made A Blogger Try Out Disha Patanis Floral Dress Look And Loved The Results | Style & Beauty

Disha Patani is the new IT girl on the Bollywood block and what seems to work for her the best, is her girl-next-door vibe. While the lady does experiment with her sartorial choices every now and then and sets red carpets on fire, she generally plays it sweet and safe which makes her more relatable to girls all around.

For our social experiment, 31 Days Of Summer we made a couple of real girls try a ton of celebrity trends. From Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner to Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, we tried them all. Disha Patani of course, made it to the list too.

Florals are summer’s favourite child but florals have recently made their entry as an all-year-round affair. Now we have two sets of florals: summer florals with lighter, brighter hues and autumn florals, in dark, winter colours. Disha recently mixed things up a little and wore, what seems like, an autumn-floral, maxi dress and a pair of not-saying-goodbye-yet, white shoes.

Fashion blogger and stylist, Himanshi Goel was up for the challenge to see if Disha’s pastoral lewk looked just as fine on a real girl as well! We gave her a very classy Dhruv Kapoor maxi dress, bursting to the brim with flowers, from his last autumn collection. With this, went a pair of shoes which a fashion-forward colleague declared all of Europe wears every single day; Adidas Stan Smiths. For her face, we went for a subtle, no-makeup makeup look with a summer blush on her cheeks and nude pink lips.

Honestly, we fell head over heels for the whole thing. Being black-for-the-summer people and hating on all sorts of pinks and yellows that the weather endorses whole heartedly, this look won our hearts. That’s because it featured dark, winter hues and a comfortable pair of shoes in place of some dainty, tie-up sandals that manage to stop the blood flow in our legs! Thank you Disha, for letting us be ourselves and still claim we are following a celebrity trend, which is generally not easy.

Celebrity trends help launch beauty business

Two young Kirkcaldy women have combined their skills to launch a new business.

SM Aesthetics and Make Up by Yule, in the town’s Commercial Street, is the brainchild of Sarah Mackay (22) and Jodie Yule (21).

Friends since their school days, the hard-working pair each originally started their own businesses but have now brought them together under one roof.

A qualified nurse, Sarah specialises in cosmetic procedures, such as lip fillers, Dermaroll and glycolic peel treatments, while Jodie’s creative talents are in make-up.

“We’re really excited about the new shop and the feedback from clients has been great,” said Sarah.

While cosmetic procedures were once seen only as the domain of women of a certain age, Sarah reckons it is the influence of celebrities such as Kylie Jenner which has made much younger women have treatments that can enhance their faces.

Similarly, while having your make-up done would once have have a one-off, perhaps for a bride for her wedding, now women look on it as something to add to their preparations for any special occasion or night out.
