Keeping Up With The Kardashians Diet, Fitness Trends

Thanks to their spellbinding show, relentless social media presence, and popular apps, the Kardashians — particularly the three oldest sisters — have overshared to a point where it feels like we know them on an intimate level, according to Christina Beck, PhD, a communication professor at Ohio University and author of Celebrity Health Narratives and the Public Health. So, although we may sense that their advice is misguided or uninformed (for example, suggesting an unnecessary vaginal skincare routine), we trust them because we feel like we know and understand their story, Dr. Beck says. The Kardashians are unlikely role models, and that’s why it works: They swear incessantly, talk frankly about their genitals, have tumultuous love lives, and put it all on display for fans.

4 Exercises for Sexier Shoulders, According to a Celebrity Trainer – Fitness

Summer is in full swing, and it’s become clear that one of the biggest trends for this sun-filled season is cutout sleeves. Translation: Shoulders are going to be on the scene this summer. Though celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson argues that they never left: “Shoulders have always been in style,” he says. “They are like the little black dress of the upper body.”

Whether new fad or old hat, it’s time to give yours a little extra love, so they’ll be strong, sculpted, and ready to show off during the these dog days and beyond. To do that, you have to work them from all angles.  “The shoulder has three heads: the anterior, medial, and posterior head,” explains Peterson, who is the director of training and endurance for the Los Angeles Lakers. “You have to train all three.” He also notes that the leaner you are, the more muscle separation you’ll show.

Follow along with Peterson’s four-move shoulder circuit in the video above, and you’ll be reaching for those tank tops in no time.

Rear Deltoid Raise

Stand with feet hip-width apart, knees soft, and a dumbbell in each hand at sides; palms face in with a slight bend in wrists. Hinge forward at hips and lower down so that torso is almost parallel to floor. Keeping a slight bend in arms and back flat, raise arms out to sides until they are in line with body, and squeeze shoulder blades together. Slowly lower back to start and then repeat.

Overhead Press

Stand with feet hip-width apart, a slight bend in knees and wrists at shoulder-height and a dumbbell in each hand; palms face forward. Press dumbbells directly overhead. Pause, and then slowly lower back down, and repeat.

Peterson’s Tip: “If you start to fail—you can’t do the move properly and your form is compromised—and you are in the 5, 6, 7 rep range, lighten up the weight. If you are cranking out 15 reps and are still fresh as a daisy at the end, add some weight. You want to get to where you are reaching technical failure between 12 and 15 reps.”

Four Celebrity Fitness Trends and Where to do them

Summer is just around the corner and you don’t need to be in La La Land to tone up the celebrity way. From bouncing to ballet – we compiled the best ways to get beach ready right here in the North East.

BOUNCING

Olly Murs, Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham are all fans of bouncing – and why wouldn’t they be!

Why? Studies show that bouncing on a trampoline is 68% more effective than jogging and requires less effort and bouncing (or ‘rebounding’) is great for providing an all over work out.

The study goes on to show that trampolining also develops upper and lower body strength better than weight lifting, as well as being more beneficial than swimming as all round exercise. On top of this, it also improves balance and coordination, muscular strength and endurance, lung and cardio capacity, motor skills and rhythm too! Join a Jump Fit class to melt fat and tone muscle fast.

Where? Jump 360 in Hartlepool, Stockton and coming soon to Newcastle upon Tyne (from July 2017) www.jump360.co.uk

CLIMBING

Kristin Stewart and Jennifer Anniston have both used climbing to train for movies and Keira Knightly has been spotted relaxing at an indoor climbing gym.

Why? Climbing is a complete body work out as well as a mental one. It uses muscles in your upper and lower back, as well as your fingers, shoulders and arms. Climbing regularly will help to improve your stamina, as well as toning you up. Time yourself or challenge your friends for a work out circuit with a difference!

Where? Clip ‘n Climb Stockton www.clipnclimbstockton.co.uk/

BALLET

Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel are fans of ballet inspired fitness and even action star Jen Claude Van Damme said “Ballet is an art, but it’s also one of the most difficult sports. If you can survive a ballet workout, you can survive a workout in any other sport.”

Why? Ballet moves improve core muscles, strength and flexibility as well as improving posture.

Where? The Barre, Newcastle upon Tyne www.the-barre.com

YOGA

Charlize Theron, Colin Farrell and Robert Downey Jn. among a gaggle of others who all swear by yoga. Probably because it helps them Namaste in shape…

Why? Yoga has been practiced throughout history as a way to increase strength and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. It has loads of health benefits including protecting your bones, increasing your blood flow and boosting your immunity, not only that it can give you an aerobic workout which keeps your heart healthy. Oh, and you will be super flexible too.

Health: Mumbai’s favourite celebrity trainers reveal latest fitness trends

Body weight exercises

What is it?
The beauty of this trend, says Mustafa Ahmed, owner of Akro and trainer to Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh (in pic above), is that it lets you take exercise outdoors.

Ahmed believes that it is more important to connect with nature. “Lifting weights will give you muscle. But if you can’t employ that muscle outdoors, in your daily life, what’s the use? A housewife doesn’t need to do a barbell curl to lead a healthy life, but she needs to have stamina and strength to be able to walk for long periods or spend the major part of the day outdoors without it affecting her. You won’t learn that from a machine,” he says, adding that his gym is designed to give the feel of the outdoors, with natural light, bars, ropes and a monkey bar.

“Fitness cannot be done chained to machines. It is about managing your body weight and having more control over your surroundings. Body weight exercises use the body as a tool; you can do it anywhere, even outdoors,” he says.

Ahmed’s workouts include mobility drills, push-ups, squats, frog leaps, and guerilla walks.

Benefits
The advantage with body-weight workouts is that they are pain-free. They are easy to do, and use your body’s resistance to burn fat, improve balance, flexibility, endurance and strength without the need for machinery. “They will help improve your mobility and prevent injury. If you do the right form of training, you can be fit and healthy, and build a great physique,” assures Ahmed.

Circuit pilates

What is it?
Celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala is kicked about a new fad that she’s introduced to Bollywood’s swish set. “In circuit pilates, we have stations with different pilates machines. People have to move from station to station within a given time frame,” says Karachiwala of Body Image Personal Training Studio. The trainer who has worked with the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha, has just introduced Alia Bhatt to the workout.

The first round lasts one minute, the second for 45 seconds, and the third round, 30 seconds. In between each round, there is a two-minute break for simple cardio. There are four machines used in this workout — core activation is done on the reformer, lower body strength on the chair, upper body strength on the trapeze and balance on the coralline.

Benefits
Circuit Pilates is a whole body workout. “It improves your coordination, core control, gets your heart rate up, improves upper and lower body strength and balance, and the circuit has a bit of cardio too,” says Karachiwala.

Mobility/Stability training for movement

Mobility/Stability training for movement

What is it?
Our body is made in a way that certain joints need to be stable while others need to be mobile for optimum functioning and good movement quality, says Urmi Kothari, IFAA Master Trainer and Founder of Kinetic Living. Any imbalance in this leads to injuries. For this, mobility and active flexibility combined with stability is crucial. “Mobility is the range of uninhibited movement available at a joint. Stability comes from the strength and adaptive nature of the muscles, tendons and ligaments around a joint,” says Kothari.

For a general fitness enthusiast, dedicated mobility, active flexibility and stability drills once or twice a week are sufficient. “This is a low-impact workout that involves stretching the muscles that tend to overwork, and tightening and strengthening muscles that tend to weaken. Using foam rollers can release knots in the muscles that occur due to over-training or over straining,” she adds.

Benefits
The benefits include improved posture at rest and in movement, increase in body awareness, reduced chances of injury in load bearing joints, increased energy efficiency due to correct weight distribution over the joints, and keeping the body supple and light. “People with back, knee, and hip issues are loving it because it restores their mobility” she says.

Strength and conditioning/ Exercise science

What is it?
Certified strength and conditioning specialist Praveen Tokas credits the booming sports market in India for bringing the strength and conditioning workout back into the public eye. It is a study course that applies scientific knowledge to help people and improve their physical abilities, Tokas has been using it extensively. “This workout is designed to make you stronger, leaner and energetic with the science of strength and conditioning techniques. It incorporates different components of fitness,” he says, adding that Emraan Hashmi and Imran Khan are doing offshoots of this method.

The workout has three phases. “It begins with mobility drills to open up the joints; the main section has exercises such as dead lifts, lunges, push-ups, pull ups and multi-joint movements; and the cooling down phase involves yoga,” says Tokas, adding that it needs to be done at least twice a week.

Benefits
A tailored programme results in tougher ligaments, improved flexibility, and prevents injuries. Although it feels like a hardcore workout, Tokas mentions this routine can be customised. “Anyone and everyone can do it. You don’t need a level of fitness.” It also helps avoid under- and over-training, and angular movement training helps you finish your workout without feeling drained out.

Get Stoned To Stay in Shape: The Absurd Celebrity Fitness Trend is Making Waves : Healthy Habits : Latinos Health

Celebrity fitness trends and ridiculousness seems to walk hand in hand. The new trend of fitness is losing your head. Well, your senses at least. Get stoned to stay fit (yes, you read that right) is the latest buzzword of crazy. If you have been dreaming of a svelte figure, the best way to attain it seems to be, getting high.

Do you think that is absurd? Give that another thought!

The “US Anti-Doping Agency” prohibits the use of quite a few intoxicating substances like marijuana. All of us are aware of the fact, but did you know why these substances are actually prohibited? This is probably a high time to find it out!

Haven’t you heard about athletes using prohibited substances to boost their performance?

Prohibited substances like pot relax the muscle, numbs your idea of feeling pain and of course bring out your courageous self to make you more likely to take risks and to push yourself further. This new celebrity fitness trend encourages to use this method in the gym. This inevitably means your aggressive self-pushing yourself to do more exercise, to take more risks than you normally would, and the pots and weeds will keep you numb to the feeling of pain, revealed New York Post.

Sounds like a great idea? Take a further look at the other end of the argument!

The “Journal Sports Medicine” in 2015 suggests pot is more likely to make you act like a sloth where all you want to do is lay down flat and do nothing. Moreover, we all know very well the risks of consuming pot and weed on a regular basis. They did not become prohibited substance for anything. Irritation and inflammation of lungs and bronchial tubes, long-term respiratory problems, heart attack, come as a part of the deal. Not to forget the severe lack of hand-eye-leg coordination when you are high, revealed Ace Fitness. But the new celebrity fitness trends aim at using this strategy to work out more and thereby stay in proper shape.

Still, if absurd is your middle name then, by all means, go for it, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Madonna has an excessive fitness regime

Celebrity News

By  |

Madonna has an excessive fitness regime. Madonna works out for “five hours a day”, according to SoulCycle Master Instructor, Stacey Griffith. The 58-year-old pop megastar is determined to keep her body in shape, so much so that she hits the gym for the impressive timescale every single day. SoulCycle Master Instructor Stacey Griffith – who has trained the ‘Vogue’ singer in the past – revealed: “Pro athletes train all day. Madonna trains all day. She trains for five hours a day, non-stop.” And Stacey admitted training with stars like Madonna is “surreal”, and she often has to take a moment to comprehend what is happening when working with celebrities. She told Kelly Ripa during a Q&A in New York City for her new book ‘Two Turns From Zero’ – which hit shelves last Tuesday (07.03.17): “It’s surreal … those moments when I think about moments in my life that I would want to have happen and I do my visualisations in my own way, in my own special way in my office. I do my meditations and my mantras, and one day I was in the room doing a private, just me at like 3:30 in the afternoon. Music playing. It’s me,

Madonna and Craig, her trainer. “I’m like ‘Hang on a second, Stacey. You’re training Madonna. Just sit in it for a second.’” And it’s not just Madonna – who has children Lourdes, 20, Rocco, 16, adopted children David and Mercy, both 11, and four-year-old adopted twins Esther and Stella – who has found sporting success in her family either, as her daughter Mercy recently won four medals at a gymnastics tournament. Madonna took to her Instagram account to share a snap of her daughter complete with her four medals, adding the caption: “Mercy James takes home 4 Medals! (sic)” The ‘Hung Up’ singer also posted a picture of Mercy and some of her team-mates standing on a podium celebrating their success with their hands clasped together while up in the air.  She wrote: “Go Mercy James!!! It’s all about team Work! (sic)”
